This guest book is for you to register your visit and perhaps leave the kind of general comment you would leave in the guest book at a friend's home such as, "I enjoyed my visit." It would be interesting to me if you indicated at least the country where you live and maybe even your province/state and city.
I would prefer you make comments specific to "The Last Why: the poem: the precis: the essay", to any of my short poems and journal entries on their respective dedicated comment pages you open by using the comment icon at the end of each article; but if it is a choice between making your comment here or not at all please leave it here.
Please do not publish your prose or poetry on my site. I will almost invariably delete your publications.

Your Dad and mine were brothers but our families didn't have many opportunities as we were growing up to be together. It would have been nice to have had more chances to get to know each other better. Our busy lives just got in the way!
It is great to be in touch with you this far down the road.
Hugs, cousin Marilyn

I am signing your guest book in a effort to encourage you to continue...I have had a similar path...I also wanted to teach but found the system corrupt, then I became a social worker and found that system corrupt. In 2001, I lived with my 88 yr old mother until her dealth in 2005...I now am home again in Florida, working with children and beginning to rebuild my life...I love to write, but never really had the time...Being a mostly single female parent working full-time, now that I am old enough to retire, I must work to survive, but I have loving, supportive children and a new job and perhaps, finally time to explore...I have read both of Barack's book...I like him...Perhaps, we have a chance after all...JOY!

My Son
I love my son,we are close
As he is a very imporant person, the most
He gives me things to think about
Sometimes I don't agree we shout
We love each other,we fix it fast
As the love we have is the kind to last.

I am happy for you and your son. Doug.E.Barr

A Child of Divorce
You were conceived in love and a blessing be
We promised to always watch over thee
But as time passed we could no longer pretend
The union we made had come to an end
A child of divorce you then became
We vowed not to let you hurt just the same
We made a schedule to share your time
But you often became like property, his and mine
Now you older and were so proud of thee
What a wonderful person you've turned out to be
We always loved having you at our side
And pray you can forgive our childish sides
Though you had become a child of divorce
You were conceived in love with no remorse
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadly divorce and custody battles are part of the continuum of conflict that characterizes our existence. I think there might be less if there was the common understanding that another is not inherently capable of filling the void in one's life. Doug.E.Barr

You are very talented and I am inspired by your words. I write also but only wish to be as good. I have my own style and I just write when inspired at the moment. I wonder if there are many who write in this way? Thank you for sharing your thoughts and dreams and ideas..in your words.

IT'S 5:00 AM JUST READ YOUR POEM : THE LAST WHY
THE BOTTOM LINE OF LIFE IS THE BOTTOM LINE OF THE POEM. I WOULD LIKE TO MEET YOU IN PERSON
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder if 5:00 AM was the end of a long night or the beginning of a long day. Whenever it was I appreciate you giving me the time required to read my poem. Your comment was a bonus. Your assessment of the last line is correct. Thank you. Doug.E.Barr.

Peggy, this guest book is for visitors to register their visit and perhaps make a general comment about what I have written. I have left a few poems but generally I delete visitors writings; and your two poems were no exception. Doug.E.Barr

Why
Why must the world be so cruel?
Children suffering,
people hustling,
piercing crys in the night ,
pouring rain that never ends.
Why must things be so unfair?
People walking scott free for crimes that should require time behind bars,
or what about those double standard laws where money gets you off whether on bail or scott free?
What happenened to the love?
Whats with all the hate?
People killing people and wars going about.
Why must the world be so cold,
cold as ice .
Why must there be so much caos?
Why can't the world be a better place.
Spread the word from me to you, to your neighbor we have the power to change this world,
one step at a time.
Why not start with you?

Had you spent the time it took to write your comment reading "the last why: the poem" instead, you wouldn't have to ask your questions. Doug.E.Barr

You go on a bit Doug but I enyoyed what I read. Been on my own journey looking for the last why, not sure if I found it quite yet but I think I'm close. Your self government ideals are basically anarchy which I personally favour for the long term. however to get there you need an intermediate progression that would give time to educate people in there responcabilites, should we choose what is basically freedom. "i just want to be free man to do what i wanna do!" The only way I could see this happening is if we had some kind of benevolent dictator who would step aside when we where ready. The whole idea of there being a meaning for life depends on there being a god, no god then no point in lookin for meaning we are just here and thats it. Everything will be all right if there is a god simply because god will make it so. We choose to believe perhaps because th alternative is unbearable, but if you are going to believe don't question the future it has to be good. God could even fix our economies afterall money is nothing but an act of faith...

I appreciate you taking time to comment. However, stating that I "go on a bit " is somewhat troubling. I make every effort to illuminate the center of my site with the fewest words. I wonder where I have failed.
"Anarchy" is an interesting word. It has one meaning but can define two diametrically opposed contexts of life without laws. On the one hand is the context of self-destructive chaos resulting from a complete disregard for the laws we've designed in a vain attempt to regulate the opposing directions of self-interest. On the other hand is the context of order resulting from aligning ourselves with the self-realization of humanity, a common interest that would require no laws. The use of the word "anarchy" with reference to what I write must be in the latter context.
Your statement "Everything will be all right if there is a god simply because god will make it so." could be the most self-destructive notion ever to enter the mind of humanity. Doug.E.Barr

This is your fourth comment. You expressed yourself very well and if that isn't enough, your action spoke even louder than your words. Thank you. Doug.E.Barr
