Introduction

webrose.JPG

Troubled by a continuum of conflict, with an apparent variety of causes, dominating our existence I asked why? The answer is a question of meaning I present in a poem, a precis and an essay each aptly titled "The Last Why". All other writings are derivatives. I welcome comments and much appreciate sharing. Thank you. Doug.E.Barr

EAGLE PHOENIX: in memory

Our Phoenix did you know that you
Embodied all our dreams;
And at the time you left this earth
Our tears ran down in streams.

But tears of grief, with diamonds fill
The hole you left inside;
A shining image in the sky
Where memories reside.

When we look up perhaps we'll see
Reflected in your eyes,
That though you were a feathered friend
You were God in disguise.

Awesome poem.
Why not put your name on it?

Doug, this brought tears to my eyes! You have a way with words, my friend...you capture our feelings & give them life.

Eagle Phoenix: in memory........I didn't know I had any tears left. As your other poems have, this one touched me today.

"Our Phoenix did you know that you embodied all our dreams...." That line helps me understand the rivers of tears we have collectively shed. We put so much hope and anticipation in her flight into life and then were shocked when it was not to be.

I have to believe that we can still soar with our hopes and dreams and bring them to fruition.

Beautiful.
... When we look up perhaps we'll see
Reflected in your eyes,.....
The author must have a soul of an eagle.

A very emotional poem for Phoenix Phans. And I thought I was finished with the rivers of tears. Thanks for reminding her captive audience of all she was and still is. I always thought she came to us by divine intervention. You have brought it to light. Thanks Doug

Doug, a beautiful photo of our Phoe, a lovely memorial through poetry and even more an awesome possibility. The beauty just may be I did not cry reading it, perhaps because it is so hopeful. And perhaps not such a disguise after all.

Doug, you write such beautiful heartfelt poetry, but this one took my breath away. She left her imprint in our hearts where it will remain forever.

Your poetry is absolutely essential for anyone looking for the compassionate one. My tears flowed as I read your words. Thank you for your inspiration and heart. Only a man of great depths can put pen to paper or words to keyboard like you have
.
